Author - Charles Deane Little.
Charles Deane Little (1881–1962) was a Methodist minister with a life dedicated to both overseas and local ministry. Born in Ballynahinch, County Down, Little initially apprenticed in the ironmongery trade in England but soon felt a strong calling to the ministry, particularly in mission work abroad.
After training at Richmond College, he was sent to Hunan, China, where he made a significant impact through his pastoral ministry. His return to England in 1925 marked the beginning of his service in several communities across the UK, including Leek, Wigan, Bury, Manchester, Bacup, and Aberystwyth.
Known for his wisdom, humor, and devotion, Little also became an expert in the history of Methodism in South Lancashire. Even after officially retiring, he remained an active minister, serving for a decade in Blackwell, Derbyshire, and continuing to help in various circuits, including Oldham West and Warrenpoint.
He passed away on January 6, 1962, at the age of 80, having faithfully served the Methodist Church for 55 years.
